One thing that I have really seen a difference in my life is the simple fact that I'm reading more. It is amazing to hear that so many people mention that throughout their lives on the importance of reading. I am finding how much of a key it is. Try it. You might like it. It's helping me to stay focused (which I need a lot of help with) and with that I'm able to commit and focus more on the things that I need to do. Amazing the thoughts and ideas that come to you when you choosing to put good stuff into your head. That's a key in life I've been finding lately. I get to choose what goes into my mind, thereby choosing the items I know that will have an influence on me. John O'Leary's podcasts help me in so many ways. I first connected to his book "On Fire" and now I'm hooked on his podcasts. His latest one got me fired up about a few things - find it HERE and listen to it - It got me going and I hope it at least gets you thinking too. There are so many things I need to commit to - It's about time I do those things. How about you?

Life is about find difference makers and learning from them. It's also and maybe more importantly a key to become one too. Coach Rich Popp was my special guest in a recent podcast - which you can check out HERE. When I sat down and spent some time with Coach, he showed me and every listener why he defines what a difference maker is all about. He is one that not only shows it in everything he does, but he helps others to learn about doing it too. He is one of the many reasons why I am looking forward to going back this school year. Sit back and pick up the clues of success that Coach shares from his long career in education and coaching. Remember, success leaves clues and it's up to us to gather those clues and use them in our lives.
One of the BIGGIES for me is the points he made on relationships - so valuable, so needed in today's world. I see this need more so every day - there will be more of my podcasts and blogs focused in on this fact. You can contact Coach Popp at: [email protected] Thanks for listening. Looking back throughout my life - it came about many times in the summer. I was off school and you might wonder why that would happen then? Probably since I was not being too productive most of the time. Letting myself down in many ways, not working on things that I knew I should be working on. Those bad habits I knew that I should improve upon, yet I wasn't. The 4 points in this article that I found - find it HERE - it's a great read that I think will help you with some ideas to get out of the next funk you are in. It helped me. It also helped to remind me that I do indeed have the power to get out of these darker moments in life. I don't have to let it affect me and hold me back. I am not denying them but I do want to take charge more when those moments come up in life - and they always come up for all of us. Listen to my podcast about this - find it HERE as it has some great things to think about the next time you are in a funk - and remember, there will always be a next time. So, check it out - you can always chime in with some thoughts, ideas or comments. I had an amazing discussion on so many levels a few weeks ago with Matt Haffner - a return guest on my podcast show. You can listen to my show HERE. He's a former student of mine and Matt's passion is fishing - but the lessons that he shares are endless for all areas of life. Join me in listening to his message about the importance of critics in our life, chasing after your passions, not falling into the what society says we have to do to be successful. I love the fact that this 28 year old has so many lessons about life for us. He is also becoming a student too as he is realizing (from a friend's advice) that he needs to be more open minded - which is what he is starting to do. Again... a student becoming a teacher for me to keep learning lessons that I need to learn. It's one of those things for me that I need constant reminding of and that helps me to keep working hard at. Actually on a daily basis it's good for me to be reminded about this. Hope you have your student hat on too. Thanks for listening. What a fantastic morning. Got my 7-11 dark roast coffee - I'm a morning person through and through - and this morning I got to start off my day in a very positive way visiting with Coach Will Puvalowski for sit down conversation. Coach Will shared so much valuable knowledge - so much that we all can use in our lives no matter if we are a teacher, a coach, or any other profession. I count Will as a good friend of mine and I told him that he has taught me some valuable stuff for life. I love this story of Will being a former student at Lake Shore and now he's a valuable co-worker teaching, coaching and helping so many kids - talk about a HUGE difference maker.
His openness and honesty as to how he didn't like school at all as a student - if asked if a career in education was on his radar - he would have told you no way, not a chance! It's amazing to see the twists and turns that his life took and ours can too. Our talk reveals a lot of great advice. We all need to have a Coach Will in our lives - you can contact him through FB, Twitter ( @coachwill79) and through email: [email protected] Please, check out my show with this interview - find it HERE. I found a few fantastic quotes to share with you today along with reminding you about the importance that we have these things to focus in on each and every day. Check out my podcast HERE. One of the quotes from Og Mandino - "Today will never happen again. Don't waste it with a false start or no start at all." So powerful, yet so simple too. We all understand that we only have today and today ends at 12 midnight. However, for the most part most of us seem to not take that fact to heart on most days. Sure we all have the things we all have to do every day - work, take care of kids, pay bills, etc. But what are the other things we spend our days doing? Focusing on things that really matter, things that are really important, those are the things that we need to keep an eye on. Having some positive guidelines are things we need to have everyday! Go out and look for them.
Remember, they are like adjustments that must be made to our course that we are on every day. It's also cool to see examples of good things being done to help others out. It's been an awesome PGA Tour event - the RBC Canadian Open was played this past weekend and I saw some great & fun connections that the tour players made with tons of fans. Some good lessons here for us too. Never turn your attention away from events that you can learn about success lessons. Thanks for listening.
