When Steve Jobs offers some thoughts and insight, it's probably a good idea to listen up a little bit. When I saw this quote that first part really hit me, be a yardstick. Be a measurement of quality. A yardstick is something that is noticed a lot more than a twelve inch ruler. We always have to remember that no matter what we do, good or bad, people do notice. So since you know that people are watching, and you are out there being a measuring tool of quality, you know things will be ok.
Since most people are not really used to or even looking for an environment where excellence is expected, guess what - you can be that noticeable example for others. I am telling this to my students all the time. Many people don't offer quality. They don't see themselves in any form of excellence. This translates for example to some people having lousy, negative attitudes which will be picked up by others for sure. I tell my students if they have a decent, positive attitudes that too will be noticed by others, and guess what... it will also stand out more due to the other people having the negative attitudes. Those that have the negative attitudes will help make you look good, if you offer the opposite of what they offer.
Remember, the idea of quality is connected to all parts of life, not just attitude. But also, remember on how important your attitude is. This quote helped me to start off my week in a much more positive direction, here at home along with school for the week too. Lot's of things going on, and I am going to work awfully hard to make sure that I'm bringing plenty of quality for others to use and learn from. What are your plans after you saw and thought about this quote? Feel like sharing so others can learn something too?
