During this 4th of July Holiday, it is the time for celebrating and reflection. We all have so much to be thankful for and to celebrate.
Celebrating America!
Here as we celebrate our nation’s birthday, hopefully we can pause from all the fun stuff and really think about what it all means. The 4th of July holiday, especially on a weekend means so many different things.
Hopefully you are able to relax and enjoy time with family and friends. Whether it’s swimming, picnics, camping, playing golf, or just being with the people you love; that’s worth it right there.
On a day that we celebrate our nation’s 235th birthday it’s nice to see people flying the American flag out on a day like today. Where I grew up, it was rare to not see a flag out in front of the homes. It’s something that many people might not think as being a big deal today, but I’m glad to see many people still getting ‘ol glory out in front of
their homes. It would be nice to see this happen a little more often, not just on holidays.
There is a local real estate agent that goes around and puts a small American flag in everyone’s yard near the sidewalk and driveway of everyone in our neighborhood. In fact she does this in many of the neighborhoods around here. It is so impressive to drive around and see all the flags in everyone’s yard.
I think so much of people’s pride in our country has gotten tied into the politics in our country. If people are not happy with our government or a certain political party, they don’t want to take pride in our country and they don’t see the need to put a flag out.
We all should be proud of our country, but that doesn’t mean that we agree with everything that is going on with our government. In fact if anything it should be helping us to be aware of things going on within our country and government that makes us want to make things better.
During our Nation’s holiday, we should spend some time reflecting on things that are going on in our country, in our state, and in our own lives. Then we need to see how we can do something about it.
I think we should always take time to reflect on where we came from too during this time of year. Without the sacrifices of the generations before us, along with plenty of men and women sacrificing their lives today in the armed forces; our country could be in a far worse position than we are in today.
I look back on my parents and grandparents, and what they did during their lives that have helped me get to where I am today. The choices and decisions they made that have ultimately affected me and my family, are there to be celebrated too and to learn from as well. It also gets me thinking (and you should be thinking about this too) about what will others be reflecting in the future about my life and what things I did to make a difference in their lives.
Celebrate America! We do have a lot to be proud of. We also have a lot of work to do as well. As always, thoughts are always appreciated and encouraged. Happy 4th of July to all.
